Water Testing & Well Services
This section covers everything you need to know about well water testing, well maintenance, troubleshooting, and water quality concerns in Colorado.
How do I test my well water in Colorado?
Make sure you work with a certified testing facility and when possible someone experienced in collecting and managing samples. At Healthy Home Solutions we provide comprehensive well water testing for uranium, nitrates, iron bacteria, and other contaminants using certified labs and on-site analysis. Schedule a test to keep your water safe and compliant with Colorado guidelines.
How often should I test my well water?
Test your well water at least once a year for bacteria, nitrates, and other contaminants. Test immediately after repairs, flooding, or if you notice changes in taste, color, or odor. Healthy Home Solutions provides Evaluation Services which will test for these contaminants. General best practice is to have a comprehensive test done at least once which can flag issues that arise from the unique characteristic of your well.
What should I do if I have low water pressure with my well?
Low water pressure can be caused by low producing wells, pump issues, poor water quality, clogged filters, or pressure tank problems. We offer diagnostics and solutions, including constant pressure systems and variable speed pumps.
How do I know if my well pump is failing?
Signs include no water, fluctuating pressure, or the pump running continuously. Contact a local professional for a well pump inspection and troubleshooting.
Can my well run out of water?
Yes, wells can run dry due to drought, overuse, or aquifer changes. We assess your well’s recovery rate and recommend conservation or remediation strategies.
Are private household wells regulated in Colorado?
Yes, private wells are subject to state and local regulations for construction, initial testing, and abandonment. We can help you with compliance and record-keeping. Reach out to discuss your specific needs.
How do I maintain my well system?
Annual inspections, record-keeping, and regular testing are key. We offer maintenance plans and have record-keeping templates on our Resources page.
Can I drill or repair my own well?
In Colorado, only licensed professionals should drill or repair wells for safety and compliance. We can refer you to certified well contractors.

Water Filtration & Softener Systems
Learn about your options for whole house water filters, water softeners, and specialty filtration systems for Colorado well water.
What is the best whole house water filter for well water in Colorado?
We recommend Excalibur whole house water filtration systems, customized for your specific water quality. The Excalibur systems provide up to 20 year warranties and can be designed to meet any of your water quality needs.
What size water softener do I need?
Size depends your household usage and on your overall water quality. Including; water hardness, clear iron content and service flow available. We’ll test your water and recommend the right softener for your needs.
Does a water softener remove chlorine or fluoride?
No. For chlorine or fluoride, we recommend adding a carbon filter or reverse osmosis system. In fact make sure if you have chlorine present in your water this is removed prior to installing a water softener. To learn more about what healthy home solutions you need schedule an onsite evaluation with one of our experts.
Can I get a water filtration system that removes iron, sulfur, uranium, or arsenic?
Yes, we offer specialty filters for iron, sulfur (“rotten egg smell”), uranium (radionuclides), arsenic, and other contaminants. Ask about our customized solutions.
What’s the difference between a water conditioner and a water softener?
Although many companies use these terms interchangeably there is a difference. Conditioners change how minerals behave but don’t remove hardness; softeners actually remove calcium and magnesium (hardness). We provide both options and we’ll help you choose what’s best for your situation.
How much do water softeners or filtration systems cost?
Prices range from $500 to $25,000 depending on system type and home size. We provide detailed quotes after your evaluation and help you understand what's right for your water quality needs.
How do I compare different water filtration or softener systems?
There are an overwhelming number of different quality and offerings for Softeners on the market today. We offer side-by-side comparisons and can walk you through the pros and cons of each system during your consultation. For more info, check our Resources page.
What’s involved in installing a water filtration or softener system?
Installation typically involves a professional plumber and takes a few hours. We coordinate the process for you and provide all necessary instructions for care and maintenance.
Are your water and air products certified and safe for my home?
Yes. We only use products that are NSF-approved, FDA-cleared, or otherwise industry certified for safety, performance, and reliability. Our solutions are designed for Colorado’s unique water and air quality challenges and all testing performed by certified laboratories.
Why not just hire a plumber directly to resolve my water quality issues?
While plumbers are essential for installation and repairs, most are not certified water quality specialists. Healthy Home Solutions provides in-depth water and air testing, expert analysis, and custom recommendations based on your unique needs—not just a quick fix. We ensure your system is correctly specified, installed, and maintained for long-term safety and performance, with ongoing support you won’t get from a standard plumbing service.
